Mr. Ashraf Edward held a press conference in Cairo concerning the filing of an application into United Nations for converted Muslim, herewith Ramelah’s speech

Ladies and Gentlemen:

Thank you for your interest and for being here to participate in this important press conference.

First, I would like to give special thanks to Mr. Mohamed Bishoy Hegazy for his courage in speaking up in a country that does not respect basic human rights.

Important thanks go to Mr. Hegazy’s attorney of record, Mr. Ashraf Edward, for his courage, professionalism and perseverance in finding a solution to his client’s matter.

Last, but not least, thank you to our international attorney, Dr. Grégor Puppinck, who has always been willing to do whatever was needed to answer any of our questions and satisfy all of our requests.

January 22, 2010 will be marked as a milestone in our battle for human rights issues inside Egypt.

To achieve our goal of filing this lawsuit, Voice of the Copts coordinated with individuals of great courage and professionalism.

We were able to coordinate the efforts of two courageous Egyptian men living under the Mubarak regime and bring a clear picture to the entire world.

Certainly our main goal is to have Mr. Hegazy be able to live a Christian life under a regime that clearly calls Christians infidels.

We are convinced that the Egyptian regime, in its arrogance, will not accept an international verdict, however we bring attention to their bad behavior and show the world how the international community should stand up against such behavior.

In the past seven months of hard work, Mr. Edward demonstrated his professionalism and integrity in remaining silent and absent from the Arab media proving his capacity to get the job done with no thought to personal gain, unlike those who have gone before him.

Dr. Puppinck is a great example to the suffering Copts whose cries are heard outside the country proving to them that there are extraordinary individuals willing to do whatever it takes to help them.

Here and from this place I say it loud and clear to this regime, Copts have reached the point of no return.

The Copts persecutions, discrimination and oppression have to stop NOW and will be resolved for once with or without your consent.

Voice of the Copts will speak up as we did from our first day. We will be the Voice of the Copts in Egypt and around the world, helping our persecuted people to fight against the regime for their dignity and freedom.

Thank you to all of you.
