State Department: Taliban is not a terrorist organization

A new State Department report designating terrorist organizations notably excludes one group: the Taliban. The U.S. has been fighting a war in Afghanistan for almost a decade aimed at “defeating the Taliban,” Taliban members repeatedly have threatened and killed American citizens and lawmakers have increased pressure on State to add the Taliban to the list.

Soldiers Told Not to Eat or Smoke in Front of Arabs

Instructions issued by the IDF for the Muslim month of Ramadan forbid soldiers from eating, drinking or smoking in front of the Arabs of Judea and Samaria. A statement issued by the IDF Spokesman said that as the Muslim holiday approaches, representatives of the Civilian Administration "briefed the forces operating in the field about the holidays and customs of Ramadan.”

Jordanians Burn Israel Flag, Protest Need for Visa for Jerusalem

A group of Jordanian Islamists staged a sit-in Monday night and burned an Israeli flag in front of Jordan's Tourism Ministry in Amman, to protest Jordanian tourism to Jerusalem and the need for a visa travel there. Jordan signed a peace treaty with Israel in 1994, recognizing international borders but without prejudice to the status of areas restored to Israel in the Six-Day War in 1967.
