Speakers at a seminar titled “Increasing Western influence on our Civilisation” have criticised the Valentine’s Day that has been introduced by the west through their agents in Pakistan to destroy the cultural and religious fibre of Pakistan.

Islami Jamiat-e-Talaba (IJT) held the seminar on Saturday at Dawood Engineering College as a part of its country wide campaign ‘Youm-e-Haya’ (Modesty Day) to counter the Valentine’s Day that has been imposed on the Pakistani youth on the pretext of ‘enlightened Moderation’.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Sindh, Asadullah Bhutto claimed that the US and its allies are nearing a comprehensive military defeat in Iraq and Afghanistan and now they have begun direct assault on the ideological base of Islam in Pakistan and other Muslim countries. He expressed his anger at the government who had no pang of guilt for the physical and ideological assault on Pakistan.

Former Vice Chancellor University of Karachi (KU) and current President of Mohammad Ali Jinnah University (MAJU), Dr Abdul Wahab said that Valentines Day was an attempt by the west to engage the youth in activities that were against the teachings of Islam and that could destroy the character of a large number of our youth if breaks were not applied to such practices.

A resolution passed at the conclusion of the seminar requested the media not to spread such practices in Pakistan for sake of money and instead do some thing that was within the limits of Islamic values and tradition.
