Hamas is involved in attempts to destabilize Egypt along with its parent, Muslim Brotherhood

Many Egyptian newspapers have reported the activities of Hamas cells leading to the Cairo January 24 and Dakaleah December 23, 2013 bombings of police headquarters just one day before the three-year anniversary celebration of Egypt’s uprising against Hosni Mubarak in 2011 by freedom fighters.

Egypt’s Deputy Attorney General considers the head commander of a Hamas terror cell, Ahmed Abdel Al Aziz Alsegeny. Alsegeny was trained in Gaza and investigators found that Alsegeny crossed the border between Egypt and Gaza at least three times through smuggling tunnels. The last crossing was immediately after the uprising of June 30, 2013. The crossings were commissioned by the leader of the terrorist group known as Bet Al Maqdas, a sub-group of Hamas. As per Egyptian prosecutors, Alsegeny received information of his duties via emails.

The Al Wafd obtained a copy of a memo from Egypt’s national police authority which showed that Alsegeny met in Gaza with Fathy Gamal, the Internal Minister of the Hamas government, and Tawfek Farreg, representing Bet Al Maqdas in Cairo. In this meeting the Hamas Internal Minister and Tawfek requested from Alsegeny to create a cell made up of hardcore jihadists targeting Egypt’s military and Egypt’s police. The same information shows that Alsegeny returned to Cairo and was successful in recruiting 35 persons who believed in this mission and ideology.

Hamas terror experts in Gaza trained Egyptians in operations and gave the go ahead via internet

The same investigation shows that Alsegeny created a sub-cell with duties to observe Egypt’s military and government buildings and sent 10 of its members to be trained in Gaza by experts from Hamas. These experts provided them with the necessary logistical support to carry out both the December and January terror bombing missions.

The investigation found that all orders to act within terror operations were given by Hamas via the internet. Police detectives know that Alsegeny left his residence in the Belkas section of Dakaleah immediately after the attack against police headquarters in that city — on December 23 last year 14 people were killed and 134 people were injured. Days prior to the attack on Cairo’s police headquarters, Alsegeny was seen with other group members of his Cairo terror cell. Alsegeny and his second in command, Hassan Abdel Al, realized after the first bombing occurred that Egyptian police were following them.

Egypt’s Attorney General requests the arrest of 15 terrorists involved in these attacks and others.
