We have often heard through the wailing, and mourning Arab mass media about the Western conspiracy against Arabs, and its efforts to undermine the foundations of the Arab presence, ethics, existence, and heritage. However, the facts and the every day updates disclose new realities in this regard, about who is trying, really, to undermine the moral existence foundations of the other, and who is forcing the West not, only, to retreat, but, rather, to deny many democratic, liberal, legal, human rights Western values, principles and ideals that the West began drafting during ever since the French Revolution, and were completed in the era of the enlightenment time, ending with to what they are today.
The Libyan news has been dominant, in the past two days, on this respect, to a large and influential extent, when the Libyan diplomacy forced the Scottish government, and without knowing the price for that until the moment, to release from prison, the convicted Abdel Basset Al-Megrahi, for "humanitarian reasons". Al-Megrahi, is the man who was condemned to life imprisonment, on charges of bombing Pan Am flight 103, over the Scotland town of Lockerbie, in the year 1988. Interestingly and most ironically, it was Obama’s comment, and his main concern, of the whole subject, that al Megrahi should not be well received, and must be placed under house arrest. The plane that was carrying Megrahi, has not yet landed in the Libyan capital, when, Swiss president Hans Rudolph Myers, unprecedented, was apologizing, publicly, to the Libyan government, regarding the detention of the son of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, Hannibal Gaddafi for a brief period, last year, by Geneva police, because Hannibal had beaten two of his servants when he was Switzerland, a thing which is forbidden, and it is a taboo in Western culture, which is in contrast to the Arab culture, that encourages beating women, and, rather considers it, as a religious obligation. Libya threatened, at the time, to cut off oil supplies to the Swiss Confederation, and to draw billions of dollars from Swiss banks. So the Swiss government was forced to bow, and acquiesce to the Libyan dictations, and thus to disable and cripple all usual legal proceedings against the Libyan pampered and pious "lad".
Another Arab scandal, again, whose hero this time, is the Saudi regime, who runs one of the most medieval closed, rigid and fundamental regimes, and the worst in practices and despotism. It is of course, not related to beating, and ill-treatment of domestic workers, which are already prosperous in this medieval kingdom, but that was the most famous al Yamamah (Dove) scandal. It’s so paradoxically, and however ridiculous, in this context, that this system is in a political dispute with the Libyan regime, but the "Arab shared values", join them in many of the broad headings. This regime,(whose princes, the heroes of the scandal themselves, are honored, each year, in cleaning the walls of the Kaaba " the holiest shrine of Muslims), had forced the Government of Tony Blair, to halt the investigations in the case of the Al Yamamah scandal, which is considered to be one of the modern times worst corruption scandals .
Commenting on this scandal, according to one source, Anti-Serious Fraud Crimes Office investigation abandoned, in December 2006, the process of two years investigation in Al-Yamamah deal, when the British government informed it that the investigations were causing threats to "national and international security." Saudi Arabia noted that it will stop the multi-billions dollar defense contract if the probe continues, and threatened to cancel any new deal to purchase "Euro fighter" jets.
It is believed, that the Saudi royal family threatened to cancel the final segment of Al Yamamah contract to purchase 72 Typhoon fighter-aircrafts, which amounts to hundreds of millions of sterling pounds, unless the British government stops the corruption investigations. The Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development, criticized the decision, and considered it as a violation of international conventions on combating corruption, at the same time, the American Justice Department, started an investigation regarding the scandal.
The Ministry of Defense also allowed, "the payments of quarterly invoices", to Prince Bandar Bin Sultan, which reached the total of more than one billion sterling pounds, that is the equivalent of two billion dollars, in appreciation of "support services" related to Al Yamamah contract, between the Saudi Ministry of Defense, and the British arms company BAE Systems. The Sunday Times newspaper, had, once, published, in 18th of June, 2007, statements by the director of a travel agency, called The World Travel, in which he says, that the British arms company BAE Systems, paid the flights costs, of Royal Family members in Saudi Arabia. It was, specifically, for Prince Bandar bin Sultan’s daughter honeymoon, who married Prince Faisal bin Turki, the son of Prince Turki bin Nasser, in December 1996. The bill of the trip, which lasted six weeks in Singapore, Malaysia, Bali, Indonesia, Australia and Hawaii, was 250 thousand sterling pounds, (about 370 thousand euros).
The Sunday Times, said at the time, that the Saudi government, had threatened to cut diplomatic ties with Britain, in case of going further into the investigations, about the financial breaches and bribes paid by British defense systems company, related to Al Yamamah deal, which is one of the largest military contracts between the two countries. The newspaper added, that a senior Saudi diplomat had delivered, to the Government Office, an ultimatum, in which he warned of further investigation, and that if it is not stopped, the Saudi government will cut off its relationship with Britain, and will stop all forms of cooperation in the field of War on Terror.
Hereafter, is a verbal quotation, from "Al Jazeera Talk", which says: (sex-for-arms scandal … Heroes of the scandal is a Saudi prince, (we do not have information on how many times has his Highness been honored by cleaning the Kaaba and serving pilgrims-the writer), and an underwear model, accused of possessing cocaine. The British arms company BAE, which is one of the largest arms companies in the world, didn’t not spare any time, or effort, when Prince Turki bin Nasser, the commander of Saudi Arabia air forces used to arrive to London .. The company used to put all its capabilities, money… and managers, at the disposal of the Prince, the most important agent in its entire history for that, and as soon as, Prince Turki arrives in his plane en route to London, the life of the British company staff was turning upside down, everyone, and everyone was getting ready, expecting one sign from the Prince to meet his orders and dreams. So that, everything will be ready for the convenience of Prince, and all those around him. Senior officials of the company, knew that they have a long way, ahead, to influence Prince Turki, because he is a sort of man who had seen of the world, what none hadn’t… and had tasted features of luxury that millions will envy him for. Prince Turki, like many other members of the Saudi royal family, has several luxurious palaces in many cities around the world .. and everyone gasps, amazingly, when hearing about the terrible fleet of cars owned by the Prince, which reaches up to more than 200 luxury cars. In addition to the excessively luxurious Yacht, with a length of, approximately, 230 feet, and it is always a guest on most of the yacht berths in the most beautiful and famous coasts of the world. And above all of that comes, of course, the Prince Preferred air movements means which is a private Boeing 707 jet, in which Prince Turki bin Nasser was landing with his entourage at London’s Heathrow airport, in London in 2001, to draw the broad outlines of the largest arms deal in the history of the British company, and the biggest scandal of bribery and corruption in the history of Britain, the deal that all the world knows under the name of a scandal, or Al Yamamah deal. A deal that, still, constitutes a headache to Britain as whole, and opens dozens of corruption files committed by arms companies, and discloses the complicity of the Office of the Attorney General, as well as, the submission of the British Prime Minister, to the Saudi pressure. Al-Yamamah arms deal, is one of aircrafts and weapons, but it is like a long time Epic, no one ever knows when its chapters will come to an end. An Epic that began in 1985, when the British arms company BAE, signed a contract to supply Tornado and Hawk aircrafts, to Saudi Arabia. It was possible to be just another normal deal, even though the deal, amounted to billions of sterling pounds, more specifically 40 billion pounds, but without that break out of allegations, in 1992, which said that a number of members of the royal family had received bribes of millions of dollars, to pass the arms deal with the British company, and to continue buying warplanes from this company alone, without other competitors). These news and practices mean, in fact, that there is a diplomatic, political, cultural, and coordinated unity, at a high level, and sameness in attitudes, ethics and generalities between Libya and Saudi Arabia, and any talk of "essential" differences, between the two countries, is a mere illusions, fabrications and slanders.
Don’t all this wailing, and mourning of Arab speech, which is horrified of a global cultural invasion, and a globalization, that "will" undermine the unique Arab identity, seem so exaggerated and untruthful in its effort, as well as its lack of the minimum degree of transparency and persuasion? The real fear today, is one of a large-scale invasion of the values of the "famous" Arab culture to the depth of the liberal and enlightened Western system which will blow up the pillars and the legal, moral, intellectual and behavioral homogeneous foundations upon which the contemporary Western civilization was built? And that the legal, ethical, liberal Western system is becoming, really, threatened, eroded, declined and acquiesced, in front of an alien, and distorted values coming from the depth of the desert.
The legitimate, puzzling and worrying questions, are of the kind that says who is threatening whom? Who is blackmailing whom? Who is attempting to eliminate whom? Who is imposing one’s values and culture on whom? Who is invading whom? Who is generalizing creative chaos on whom? And who? And who? And who? Who is threatened, and undermined, in the middle through this western humiliating and shameful submission to the culture of corruption? Does the great Middle East begin to expand vertically, towards the north, instead of Bush’s hope, and will to expand it, horizontally, to reach the borders of the territory of the Igorian Chinese Chin yang Muslim province? Is it the beginning of the end of the judicial western system? The fear, the whole fear, therefore, is whether this Arabic "creeping" of values, and the ethics towards western moral strongholds, and its ethical and legal forts, will transform, finally, this bargaining, broker, bartering, swapper, evasive and corrupt west, to just another version of the system of corruption, tyranny and oppression of the Middle Eastern kingdoms, and to spread the values of hypocrisy, bargains, degradation, and Arabic culture, in the heart of the enlightened European West?
At that time, it will, undoubtedly, be the end of history, and the beginning of the collapse of Western civilization. And the other great disaster hides in the spread out of Arab creative chaos throughout the whole world
